On caregivers, faith, family, and writing…

Lift my eyes to the hills

As caregivers, we often become very short sighted, focusing on where we are right now, what problems we are dealing with today. That focus is certainly necessary in order to provide the best care possible for your loved ones, but in those precious few moments between crises when you have a chance to take a deep breath, try changing your perspective.

The next time your loved one is taking a nap or a loving neighbor gives you a much needed break, lift your eyes from your day-to-day circumstances and take a look around. Remember what the world looked like before your personal life became defined by the needs of someone else. Remember who you are besides being a caregiver, and remember those who love you. Most of all, remember that your help comes from the Lord, and nothing is too hard for Him.

Blessings,

Linda
