Ten Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease

Mom died from Alzheimer’s disease on May 20, 2012. I received many expressions of sympathy, but one of the most meaningful was a letter from the Alzheimer’s Association acknowledging of a gift made in her honor. The back of the letter was devoted to an article titled “10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s disease.” Here are links to ten posts I wrote about those warning signs.

Memory changes that disrupt daily life.

Challenges in planning or solving problems.

Difficulty completing familiar tasks at home, at work or at leisure.

Confusion with time or place.

Trouble understanding visual images and spatial relationships.

New problems with words in speaking or writing.

Misplacing things and losing the ability to retrace steps.

Decreased or poor judgment.

Withdrawal from work or social activities.

Changes in mood and personality.

  1. I can understand what you went through. A part of my life was spent taking care of my mother-in-law. Some moments were good and some were a struggle to get through. My father passed away a little over a year ago, and my mother went through a lot while taking care of him at the last. He was forgetting many things. One blessing, he was mild and just wanted to be home with Mom. We had a bed set up in the living room at the last. It’s hard dealing with it all, but God knows we’ll come out wiser in the end. He welcomes our loved ones Home and lets them have the joy of minds restored, awaiting our arrival.

I’m on FB, and I have a book coming out March 21st! The title is, “The Girl Called Ella Dessa”. My Dad would be so excited to see it, if he was here. He knew I was writing, and he knew that in a future book, I will include one of our ancestors….who lost part of an arm while fighting Seminole Indians in Florida.

    • Karen, thanks for sharing a little or your experiences with me and my readers. We are all in this together. Best wishes for your coming book release.
      Blessings,
      Linda
